1306530 Cups CROWN MACHINE & TOOL CO 28 May 1970 [28 May 1969] 25720/70 Heading A4A [Also in Division C3] A substantially rigid thin-walled cup for use in a vending machine is made from fused-together expanded synthetic plastics beads and has a hygroscopic coating on its exposed surfaces. The synthetic plastics beads are coated with a hygroscopic agent which permeates through the walls of the cup when the beads are heated in a mould thus forming the hygroscopic film. This film reduces the build-up of static electricity on the cup. The preferred synthetic plastics and hygroscopic agent are polystyrene and a detergent e.g. a modified aluminium or ammonium lauryl sulphate and an organic amide builder. The preferred wall thickness and cup weight are between 0À03" and 0À05" and below 4 grams respectively.
