1306519 Outboard drives OUTBOARD MARINE CORP 17 Aug 1970 [8 Sept 1969] 39509/70 Heading B7V The drive from an inboard driven shaft 74 is transmitted to an outboard drive shaft 34 by bevel idler gears 94, 112 secured to a horizontal shaft 78 which is coaxial with the axis about which the whole outboard drive unit (12) can be pivoted, and the shaft 78 is journalled in a twopart gear casing, part 79 of which is rigid with the boat hull and part 81 of which is secured to the pivoting outboard drive unit (12). Steering is effected by rotating the propeller housing (18) about the axis of shaft 34 through worm 150, bevel gearing 146 and a shaft 136 coaxial with shaft 78. |
