Clarification of waste liquor contg polymer /monomers - - by freezing photopolymn and separation

Waste liquors (effluents), contg. monomers and/or polymers in dissolved or dispersed form with at least one photopolymerisable C=C bond, are clarified by partly or completely freezing them, irradiating them in this condition so as to polymerise the monomers, and separating the relatively insol. impurities after thawing. Purification is almost quantitative. Applied e.g. in mfre. to textile, pharmaceutical and sedimentation aids, thickeners, (meth)acrylic acid and derivs., foamable PS.
