1375173 Train control BRITISH RAILWAYS BOARD 1 May 1972 [14 May 1971] 15040/71 Heading B7N In a railway signalling system, a train 10 entering a section 12, 13 receives from a transponder 17 the identity number of the signal 18 at the entry to the next section so that it responds only to signals picked up by its receiver 16 from transmitter 15 which transmits the aspect and identity of said entry signal 18. The entry signal-train transmission is by directional S.H.F. which is angle modulated so that the nearest (next ahead) transmitter "captures" the receiver. Should the strongest "capturing" signal not carry the correct identity a fail condition is indicated. Where a number of lines are adjacent a time division multiplex system can be used. |
