PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quantization method which reduces the visibility of oscillation unevenness or connection unevenness between modules, and an image processing device.SOLUTION: The object is attained by quantization method comprising a quantization step for quantizing first image data and converting the same into second image data, which represents a bivalent or multivalent quantization pattern with a smaller number of gradations than the first image data and in which each pixel in a pixel sequence along a first direction has dots arranged by the same recording element, and each pixel in a pixel sequence along a second direction orthogonal to the first direction has dots arranged at a plurality of different timing, and an optimization step for optimizing the quantization step for at least some of the gradations to reduce a variation in the occurrence frequency of dot arrangement for each relative position relation of a pixel of interest when respective pixels in a quantization pattern are sequentially set as the pixel of interest and a plurality of vicinity pixels located in a vicinity of the pixel of interest.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10 |
