<p>1284097 Seismic prospecting IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 17 Nov 1970 [8 Dec 1969] 59718/69 Heading H4D Apparatus for laying a flexible elongated explosive charge 14 in position for firing in a seismic prospecting method, and for stemming the charge with earth, comprises a conduit 13 down which the charge (detonating fuse-cord) is fed into a ground opening made by tine 11 as the apparatus is towed forwards, the stemming material being urged over the buried charge by ploughs 19, 19<SP>1</SP> provided with mouldboards 20, 20<SP>1</SP>. The ploughs are mounted on spring- biased pivoted arms 18, 18<SP>1</SP> so that they are urged into the ground independently, and their positions along the arms are adjustable. Locking collars 31 allow adjustment of the positions of arms 18, 18<SP>1</SP> along their pivot bar 17. Rods 30 provide storage for spare reels of explosive. Seismic waves generated by firing the explosive and reflected or refracted at subsurface formations are recorded.</p> |
