PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tank unit for an ink jet recording device which enables reduction of an odor caused by volatilization of a volatile organic compound (VOC).SOLUTION: A tank unit of the invention is used for an ink jet recording device and supplies an ink containing a volatile organic compound (VOC) to the ink jet recording device. The tank unit includes: a housing 10; and a cap. The housing 10 includes: an ink chamber 11Bk capable of storing the ink; an ink injection port 13Bk for injecting the ink into the ink chamber 11Bk; an ink lead-through passage 19Bk for leading out the ink from the ink chamber 11Bk; an atmosphere communication port 121Bk which opens the ink chamber 11Bk to the outside; and an atmosphere communication passage 12Bk which allows the ink chamber 11Bk and the atmosphere communication port 121Bk to communicate with each other. The cap opens or closes the ink injection port 13Bk of the housing 10. An absorbent which adsorbs the VOC is disposed in the atmosphere communication passage 12Bk of the housing 10.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
