1324958 Endless conveyers CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE AG 7 April 1972 [8 April 1971] 16258/72 Heading B8A A conveyer belt monitoring device comprises photo-electric means 11, 12, 13 and light conductors 8. Each conductor is embedded in a layer 2 of the belt and comprises flexible glass fibres 6 contained in a flexible sheath 7. A control box 13 contains an electronic system which switches off the drive to the belt should the light passing through a conductor 8 be reduced or interrupted by damage to the conductor. Rotary brushes 14 clean the edges of the belt, where the ends of the conductors terminate. The belt consists of reinforcement 3 between outer rubber or equivalent layers 2, 4 and may be in trough form, Fig. 2 (not shown). To avoid damage to the conductor ends they may be recessed in the belt edges, Fig. 5 (not shown). Each conductor may be of V or zig-zag form, Fig. 6, 7 (not shown). |
