A planar lighting device comprising: a circuit substrate; a plurality of light sources disposed on a first surface of the circuit substrate; a reflection layer disposed on the first surface of the circuit substrate, the reflection layer comprising a plurality of openings corresponding to the respective light sources; a light regulator disposed along an edge of the reflection layer; and an optical sheet disposed on the light sources, wherein the light regulator comprises absorber portions and reflector portions that are alternately located along the light regulator, wherein the absorber portions are located in portions of the light regulator corresponding to positions of light sources closest to the light regulator, and the reflector portions are located in portions of the light regulator corresponding to positions between adjacent light sources closest to the light regulator, and wherein a reflectance of the reflector portion is higher than a reflectance of the absorber portion.
