Chloride leaching process - for selective removal of cobalt from a mixt of metals

Selective recuperation of metals from solid materials in particular from sulphide ores or alloy concentrates by leaching with Cl in the form of an aq. soln contg. a chloride and Cu++ whose Redox potential increases when Cl is added and decreases when particles are added. The metal to be selectively removed with ref. to a more noble metal may be chosen by controlling the Redox potential of the soln. The metals to be treated are from the gp. formed by Ni, Cu, Co and precious metals.
