Heterobicyclic 1,2,4-oxadiazole cpds - useful as stabilizers and as inters for pharmaceuticals

Title cpds. of formula (I) (where n is 2 or 3; R1 is 1-7C alkyl, opt. subst. 6-14C aryl, or benzyl; R2 is H, 1-17C alkyl, opt. subst. phenyl, or benzyl; and X is O, S or NR3 in which R3 is H, 1-17C alkyl, opt. subst. phenyl, or benzyl) are prepd. by reacting a nitrile oxide R1-C triple bond N right arrow with a cpd. of formula (III) instead of the nitrile oxide there can be used the corresp. hydroxamic halide in the presence of a base. Cpds. (I) and their salts are useful as stabilizers for plastics and nautral rubber, and as inters. for pharmaceuticals.
