The cotton or rayon material is first treated with an agent contg. cyanamide and polyethylene imine, dried, fixed, opt. washed and then dyed in the usual way with acid dyes opt. combined with substantive dyes. Pref. the fabric is treated with a soln. thickened to a printing viscosity, contg. 0.1-5% cyamamide and 0.1-5% polyethyleneimine.
