Epsilon-Caprolactam obtd. by rearrangement of cyclohexanol oxime at high temp. with catalysts contg. boron trioxide, is purified by crystallisation from benzene or 7-8C alkyl benzene (toluene, xylene) at 0-50 degrees C followed by recrystallisation in the solvent and vacuum distillation to remove the small amt. of oxime which remains. The prodt. is used for polyamide prodn.
