1324153 Ferrous alloy compositions T R W Inc 15 Dec 1971 [4 Jan 1971 5 Feb 1971 1 March 1971 23 April 1971 (2) 6 Dec 1971] 58174/71 Heading C7A A ferritic-phase alloy having a body-centred cubic lattice structure and being particular resistant to corrosion by sea water at elevated temperatures, comprises in weight per cent:- 16 to 28% chromium up to 7À25% colbalt up to 6À5% nickel 1À0 to 2À0% silicon up to 2À25% vanadium, niobium and/or tantalum up to 4À25% molybdenum or molybdenum and tungsten up to 0À03% carbon up to 0À1% manganese the balance being iron. It is particularly preferred for the cobalt content to exceed 4À5%. The alloy is used in the fabrication of pipes, heat exchangers, boilers etc for use with sea water, e.g. in desalination plants. |
