<p>Filter-cake is completely discharged from an automatically opened vertical plate press, the filter-cloth of which is in the form of endless belts over top and bottom rollers. When press is opened, the wt. of cake entrains the belt, which runs until all the cake has fallen off, and fresh cloth exposed, the used cloth then forming the backing half of the doubled filter support (being then reversed w.r.t. filtrate flow, which prevents clogging). The press frame sides may carry elastic sheets, behind which compressed air is fed compress cakes against plates; thus preventing their sticking to frame sides.</p> |
