<p>Appts. for monitoring the inclination and azimuth of a borehole, which can be introduced down through the borehole to determine its situation ar periodic intervals without repeated withdrawal, comprises (a) a housing fixed to a cable, drill rod, etc. defining a longitudinal axis; (b) a movable chassis situated inside the housing and capable of turning about the longitudinal axis; (c) means for varying the chassis in a predetermined orientation about the longitudinal axis; (d) a pendulum mounted on the chassis and able to oscillate about an axis which is horizontal when the chassis is in its predetermined orientation (e) a detector coupled with the pendulum to measure its inclination w.r.t. the chassis; (f) a gyroscope mounted on a universal coupling on the chassis to maintain it in a constant orientation, and (g) a detector coupled with the gyroscope to measure the deviation of the azimuth of the chassis.</p> |
