SHREDDER-COMPACTOR

Apparatus for reducing in volume by compaction organic and inorganic waste material or garbage. An auger-compacter effects shredding or shearing of the waste material into shreds or particles compacted and reduced in volume and delivered as the output. Shearing or shredding is accomplished by coaction of the auger and slots in a compaction tube within which the auger is rotatably disposed. The slots are disposed extending axially of the compaction tube on the upper part thereof and are circumferentially spaced. A breaker or shredder-bar in a hopper receiving the waste material may be provided upstream of the slots to coact with the auger in shredding or shearing the waste material or garbage before introduction into the compaction tube.
