1424406 Detergent composition PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 27 April 1973 [28 April 1972 (3)] 20191/73 Heading C5D Substantially dry detergent compositions, capable of rapidly reducing the free metal content of aqueous wash liquors consist essentially of :- (a) from 5% to 50% by weight of a water-soluble organic detergent which is a salt of a sulphuric acid ester of the reaction product of a C 10 -C 20 fatty alcohol with 1 to 30 moles of ethylene oxide, a nonionic detergent or an anionic, non-ionic, zwitterionic or ampholytic detergent treated to delay dissolution in water by at least 15 seconds after introduction into the wash liquor or a mixture thereof, (b) from 20% to 80% by weight of a substance capable of forming with the free polyvalent metal ions present in wash liquor a reaction product whose solubility in water at 25‹C is less than 1À4Î10-2 weight per cent; and (c) from 0À1%to 60% by weight of a crystalline seed for the reaction product of (b), which is calcium carbonate having a maximum particle diameter of less than 20 microns. The organic detergent (a) may be encapsulated with a water-soluble or water-dispersible substance or may be compacted with a dry detergent auxiliary ingredient.
