Coated metal rollers or shafts are produced by inserting the finished metal roller jacket into the casting mould and casting the roller body or shaft body into this jacket. The jacket is of alloyed steel with a coeff. of expansion that is greater than that of the carbon steel, cast iron with nodular graphite or cast iron with laminar graphtie comprising the body section.
