A container having an easy opening end closure including a chuck wall portion and removable and non-removable panel portions defined by a score line. A band of a hot melt adhesive superimposed over the score line is permanently bonded to the chuck wall and releasably removal to the top face of the removable panel. Upon remoal of the panel, the band is released from contact with the panel but remains bonded to the chuck wall so as to provide a protective ledge for the raw edge of the non-removable panel portion which remains about the opening. |
