1347260 Fuel injection pump delivery valves C A V Ltd 28 July 1971 [27 Aug 1970] 41231/70 Heading F1A The delivery valve of a fuel injection pump comprises a member 2 slidable in a bore 3 between abutments 4, 15 and a ball 6 urged by a spring 8 to a position closing a passage 11, 16 through the member 2. In operation fuel leaving the pumping chamber displaces the member 2 which in turn displaces fuel in the injection line (not shown) connected to the valve's outlet 14. When the member 2 meets the abutment 15, the ball 6 lifts from its seat 7 allowing fuel to flow through an annular space 13 and the now aligned circumferential groove 13 to the outlet 14. During the return stroke fuel is sucked back by the member 2 returning to its abutment 4.
|
