In an investigation of the transformation of anergic patients (with no delayed hypersensitive reaction to skin-sensitizing antigens) into an allergic state (in which the above reaction is present, an effective amt. of 2,3,5,6-tetrahydro-6-phenylimidazo [2,1-b] thiazole (I), or its acid-addn. salts is administered to the patient and, after another challenge with the antigen (pref. 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene or tuberculin), the patient is again examined for the required transformation. There is a connection between the ability of cancer patients to react to certain antigens and their operability, and (I) has been found to transform a statistically significant no. of anergic patients into positively reacting states.
|
