1448474 Humidifying respiratory gas G C GRANT 24 Aug 1973 [13 Sept 1972 17 Nov 1972] 01670/76 Divided out of 1448473 Heading B1R [Also in Division A5] Apparatus for humidifying resipratory gas comprises a humidification chamber 16 having gas inlet and outlet ports 23, 24, a normally sealed reservoir 15 having a water feed port 19 opening into the humidification chamber at a level not higher than the inlet and outlet ports, the humidification chamber having, above said level, a portion which allows gas to flow between the inlet and outlet ports 23, 24, and an automatically-operating valve 20 for controlling the flow of water through the water feed port and closing the port when the liquid level in the humidification chamber is above a predetermined level. The valve 20 is supported by a float within a cage 21. The upper portion of the humidification chamber defines two arcuate flow paths between the gas inlet and outlet ports 23, 24 and disposed about the water feed port 19. A heating coil is disposed below the humidification chamber 16 in a pocket of a casing 28 which houses control gear for the humidifier. A plastics delivery line 25 for the humidified gas has a temperature sensor at its delivery end. |
