A machine having first and second carriages mounted for horizontal reciprocation on opposite end portions of a track, with a rotary support on each carriage and an adjustable lever between them for moving the second carriage back and forth in response to reciprocation of the first carriage and in a ratio determined by the adjustment of the lever. A motor rotates the support on the first carriage while correspondingly, and reversibly, rotating the second. The first carriage is spring-urged toward a follower so that the combined rotary and reciprocating motion will move a pattern on the support to cause the follower to traverse the periphery of the pattern, and corresponding relative motion is produced at the other support between a workpiece and a shaping tool. The tools are adjustable relative to the axes of rotation, and a modified embodiment mounts the follower and the tool for either identical or generally proportional vertical movement for three-dimensional reproduction. |
