1444968 t-Butanol; hydration of isobutylene BASF AG 26 Oct 1973 [27 Get 1972] 49913/73 Heading C2C t-Butanol is made by hydrating isobutylene with 20-48% w./w. aqueous H 2 SO 4 at 20- 45‹ C., extracting the t-butanol from the mixture with a saturated or a monoolefinic or diolefinic aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon having at least three carbon atoms or a C 6-10 aromatic hydrocarbon or a mixture thereof and isolating the t-butanol from the product, e.g. by distillation.
