<p>1356949 Fuel dispensing apparatus GLOSTERSARO Ltd 11 June 1971 [16 June 1970] 29215/70 Heading T [Also in Di vision B7] A refuelling tanker vehicle 1, Fig.1 carries a wheeled hose-laying trolley 8 demountable from a lift platform 5. The trolley carries a short hose 22 Figs. 6, 7 for coupling at 23 to an aircraft fuel inlet, with its other end connected sealingly and rotatably to the hollow axle 20 of the hose reel 19. A longer hose 34 is wound on the reel with one end connected to the fuel carrying axle 20 and the other end passing through a hose-laying device 25 to a metered fuel outlet of the tanker. The trolley is driven by rear wheel 12 via chain 30, gear-box 31, clutch 28 and motor 26 energized from batteries 27. A second clutch 28A drives the hose-laying device and reel via the gear-box in accord with the trolley wheels as it travels to wind up hose. On laying out hose the reel freewheels. In the event of power failure clutches 28, 28A are disengaged, a clutch 35 is engaged so that the hose laying device is operated from rear wheel 13 via chain 30A as the trolley is pushed by handle 14 connected to steerable wheel 11. A parking brake is operated when the handle is upright or laying on the ground. Steps 16 lead to platform 17 between collapsible hand rails 18 with a foot pedal 32 operating a clamp 33 supporting the weight of the hose leading to the aircraft. (For Figure see next page)</p> |
