<p>An ovoidal bacterial purification tank, for aerated waste water, esp. for low capacity domestic installations; has an inner enclosure, coned at top and bottom, and a sloping side extension to the outlet, equipped with baffles to trap floating grease, (which may be removed via a hinged cover hatch), and promote sedimentation of solids, (which slide back into active region). Water is fed to top of inner enclosure, and exits through its pref. serrated bottom opening, into the surrounding settling region, and thence to the side extension. Suspended solids rising in inner enclosure tend to contact coned upper part, and are thus retained in active region. Alternatively the side extension may be omitted, and an impeller fitted in inner enclosure, which draws water up through a vertical tube.</p> |
