A carrier for handling microfiche film in data handling and retrieval systems. The carrier is adapted to be received in such a system for storage in a bin and means are provided on the carrier itself to cooperate with the pin for accurate registry between coded information on the carrier and code reading apparatus in the system. The coded carrier includes a removable portion such that new codes may be applied on a reused carrier.
