1383178 Alkyd resin varnishes ASSOCIATED LEAD MFRS Ltd 3 July 1973 [20 July 1972] 33998/72 Heading C3R A varnish, based on a chlorinated and/or brominated oil modified alkyd resin, contains Sb in the form of at least one hexahydroxoantimonate of Na, Mg, Ca, Ba, Sr, Zn or Al and is further characterized in that it dries to form a clear film containing 4-30% Sb and 3-14% halogen. Additionally the varnish may contain a thixotropic agent, e.g. an organophilic montmorillonite. Examples describe the preparation of suitable varnishes based on chlorinated and brominated soya bean oil suspended in white spirit, and the use of all the above specified antimony-containing salts. |
