Permanent magnet pulse generator with linear motion - has spring system for accelerating magnet to produce single pulse

The generator is used where a simple, reliable, single pulse has to be generated by an applied mechanical force, e.g. a door operating signal. In the steady state two coil springs are compressed and held by the plunger. The magnet is held against the magnetic back plate by its own attraction. Releasing the plunger allows the outer spring to expand, but the inner spring, being weaker than the magnetic attraction, remains static. At the point where the plunger flange bears against a corresponding flange fastened to the magnet, the forces of the springs add together. The magnet is pulled off the back plate, and accelerates rapidly past the coil inducing a pulse of current.
