Holder for the cross-slider of a broaching tool sharpening machine has inter-sliding parts, which can move relative to each other in a straight line in a given direction. One of the parts is fixed to the cross slide while the other can move and so constructed that it carries a motor and a drive spindle for a grinding disc so that this is reciprocated along the longitudinal middle line of the broaching tool so that the disc can enter the tooth throat of a broaching tool mounted on the longitudinal slide. Further devices balance the weight of the other part, including the motor and the drive spindle. A lever-operated drive connects the two parts so that a harmonic motion can take place between them while there is a reversal locking coupling in the drive connection.
