Installation to avoid the falling apart of a stack of piece goods with an easily deformable surface such as bales or sacks. The installation consists of an insert arranged between the uppermost layer and the layer immediately below it and fitting to the cross section surface of the stack. The insert is made of a pliant flexible material such as plastics and is made in sheet, foil or net form. The flexible insert is fitted into the stack diagonally stepped or staged between the piece goods and has a rough, gummed or adhesive surface.
