Water tower construction method - jacks raise tank in stages to allow support column segments to be placed beneath

Mode of tower reservoir construction embodies completion of the tank at ground level prior to hydraulic jacking up in stages interspersed by the interposition of segmental support members, all executed to a preconceived cyclic programme. Pref. each cycle comprises an incremental vertical lift by a group of jacks disposed on a horizontal plane, followed by their successive release, wedging and recharging. Three jacks disposed at 120 deg. are released simultaneously. The tower is constructed progressively utilizing ribs or precast block segments (A, B). After elevation the tank is freely supported pending its being tied in to tower reinforcement, grooves being provided for jack placement.
