The worm is intended for transport of liquid, paste-like, granular or mixed substances and has a drive connection at one extremity. The drive connection is shaped such that, at least in the run-out region of the grinding wheel, it does not project outside the imaginary mantle surface of the worm. The worm may have a coaxial bolt in softer material cast in, the bolt having a large diametric radius which is smaller than the smallest distance of the worm mantle surface. The worm may have a recess at its extremity to receive the drive means or an intermediate coupling member. The worm may have a coaxially cast cylindrical or prismatic projection to accommodate the drive means or intermediate coupling sleeve.
