Measurement and cable fault location - based on pulse response method with exact recording of cable fault

The start of an AC and a DC signal is triggered. The duration of the AC signal which is determined by the response pulse, is compared with the preselected switch-on duration of the DC signal. If the time periods of both signals coincide, it is indicated. A monostable multivibrator with preselected duration and a bistable multivibrator are provided for its drive via a voltage divider. The outputs of the multivibrators are connected to gates which drive an indicator lamp. A lamp across each output of the gates indicates if the preselected period of time is either too short or too long.
