摘要
928,347. Transfers and labels. POLYMARK Ltd. Oct. 9, 1961 [Oct. 14, 1960], No. 35276/60. Class 100 (2). A transfer comprises a temporary support 11, Fig. 2, of paper coated with a mixture of an alkyd resin and an oil-soluble melamine-formaldehyde resin screen-printed with a decorative pattern 12 utilizing a solubilized linear polyamide such as Maranyl C 109/P. The support 11 may comprise a polymer of glyceryl terephthalate. In a further embodiment the pattern 12, Fig. 4, is covered with a transparent, translucent or opaque layer 13 which is capable of forming a contrastingly coloured background, after transfer of the decorative pattern to a textile article. The layer 13 may comprise a solubilized linear polyamide similar to the medium from which the pattern 12 is formed. In yet a further embodiment the support 11, Fig. 5, is initially coated with a transparent layer 14 of a solubilized linear polyamide and the pattern 12, also compounded from a solubilized linear polyamide, is applied to the outer surface of this coating layer. The above transfers are applied to a fabric or textile article under heat and pressure, the support 11 being then removed. Fig. 8 discloses a label in the form of a marking element which may be readily removed as a complete entity from the support 25 before or after application and can be handled as a separate unit. The element comprises a multiple layer construction with a printed pattern 22 sandwiched between enclosing layers 23, 24 and carried upon a support 25, which may be of paper. The pattern 22 may be printed in a flexographic ink, or an ink based on a solubilized linear polyamide, and both layers 23, 24 may be of such a polyamide. In an alternative arrangement the layer 24 consists of a film or foil of nylon or a similar linear polyamide material. The solubilized linear polyamides referred to preferably consist of Nylon 66 rendered soluble by treatment with an aldehyde as described in Specification 591,382. Catalysts, e.g. aconitic, hydrochloric, oxalic, toluene sulphonic, phthalic, sulphuric, salicylic, tartaric, phosphoric, citric, sulphanilic, tannic and thiosalicylic acids, may be added to the solubilized linear polyamides in order to accelerate the rate at which resistance to deterioration due to use or wear is developed in the transferred pattern 12 or 22 whilst it is being subjected to the heat and pressure of the transfer or labelling operation. Alternatively, the catalyst may be applied by interposing a cloth moistened with the catalyst solution between the transfer or element and a heated pressure member during a heat treatment beyond that required to provide transfer or labelling.
