<p>Gas venting device in control or fuel rods used in sodium-cooled, fast breeder reactores, is in the form of a small porous plug, which consists of >=2 continuous metal phases, one of which is sol., and the other insol, in sodium under reactor operational conditions, so that the first metallic phase is selectively dissolved out by the sodium metal alloy used is esp. a hard silver-solder alloy. Device enables the advantages of release of gas produced by the irradiation of the fuel or control materials, e.g. reduction in core vol. for a given power output, to be obtd. in a simple and effective manner.</p> |
