Adhesive mixts. of (A) 30-70 (40-65) parts ethylenevinyl acetate-copolymer contg. 20-75 (30-55)% vinyl acetate, (B) 30-70 (35-60) parts one or more tackifying resins, (C) 0-15 parts inorg. filler, (D) 0-20 parts plasticiser and (E) 0-5 parts anti-oxidant, to which is added (F) 0.5-20 (2-10) parts of >=1 esters of (meth)acrylic acid with an alcohol contg. at least 2 OH gps. The mixt. is applied, pref. in molten condition, to a substrate and cross-lined with a 0.1 -10 Mrad dose of high-energy radiation to form self-adhesive tapes and films. Shear strength of the adhesive, esp. at high temps., is increased by cross-linking. Low radiation doses, prevent damage to sensitive substrates. The adhesive can be applied in soln. or, more conveniently, in molten state. |
