Pneumatic tube post system - has buffer tube stations releasing slugs as destination stations become free

The system has a central exchange with despatch sections on one level and receiving sections on another, also a buffer tube accommodating slugs which temporarily cannot be accepted by their destination stations. Destination buffer positions are provided dependent in number on the number of the despatch stations served by a despatch section, and these are connected by a release control unit in sequence of slugs in the despatch section. In addition, the buffer tube has buffer positions in number equal to the maximum number of slugs which it can accommodate, and these take over the relevant destination information from the evaluation unit on transfer of the slugs to the buffer tube. When the way is clear again, these slugs are connected to the evaluation unit in the same sequence via a further release control unit serving the buffer tube.
