<p>A moulded profiling element for a rope used in e.g. water has a part-cylindrical portion which can be deformed and clipped around the rope and two trailing arms which, when the portion is closed around the rope, come together to form a trailing vane. The inside of each arm has pref. apertured formations which when the arms are together, interleave to form a passage into which a locking bar can be inserted to hold the arms together. The elements are attached to ropes used for towing or mooring. The profiling elements are cheap and can be easily attached to the rope. The elements smooth the flow of water around the rope and reduce damage to the rope.</p> |
