1396738 Vehicle door hinges AISIN SEIKI KK 9 Aug 1972 [11 Aug 1971] 37157/72 Heading E2F A door hinge provided in a vehicle comprises a pair of plates 10, 11 mounted on the door and pillar, respectively, a pair of rollers 16, 17 rotatably mounted on one plate 11 and a resilent member 20 mounted on the other plate 10, the member 20 including a substantially horizontally-extending portion 20c which is kept in pressure contact wih at least one roller during door-opening and closing operations so as to provide a rotational movement between the plates. The constructional relationship between the member 20 and rollers 16, 17 is such that when the door is in the half-open position shown in Figure 4, the net rotational movement is zero, and, for example, further opening of the door about the hinge axis 12 causes the point of contact P 2 between the roller 17 and the member 20 to move outside the connection line B-B, while at the same time relieving contact between the roller 16 and the member 20, to provide a rotational movement which assists the opening of the door and tends to retain the door in its fully-open position, Figure 5 (not shown). Closing of the door is assisted in a similar manner, Figure 3 (not shown). The resilient member may take the form of a substantially S-shaped or U- shaped torsion bar, Figures 1 and 7 respectively (not shown), or a linear spring plate (206), Figure 11 (not shown). |
