The design allows cylinders with long strokes to be employed, adn thus improve the degree of utilization of the combustion process in engines when the draw bar transmits the motion to the frame. The latter has a closed-loop internal rack which meshes the pinion for converting the reciprocating into rotation. Correct teeth engagement is achieved with followers contacting cam surfaces. The rack includes two straight sections linked by two half-circles at the ends. The engine design is suitable for vehicles, aircraft, ships or harvesting machines or applications where long piston strokes may be advantageously incorporated.
