As shown, a first photodetector 11 is mounted at the end of shaft 12 and a second one 13 at the end of a translucent or transparent extension piece. By positioning stationary sources 17, 16 respectively on, and off set from, the axis of the shaft, respective transmission paths to detectors 13, 11 are provided. Leads to detector 13 are of translucent material. Alternatively, the sources and detectors are interchanged in position. An arrangement for providing three optical links utilizes an asymmetric lens to refract light from three sources to respective detectors arranged at spaced positions along the shaft axis.</p> |
