1397134 Jointing by stamping POST OFFICE 1 Oct 1973 [6 July 1972] 31746/72 Heading B3Q Connectors for coupling electrical conductors are compressed against the face 7 of a housing 3, Fig. 4, by a ram 4 operated against a rearward bias by a rotatable cam 5 which is subsequently driven by the ram. The cam-lobes 14 may be at different radii to vary the stroke of the ram which is returned by a spring 8. A pivoted, spring-pressed tooth 23, Fig. 2, forms a uni-directional coupling between the cam-shaft and an operating lever 20 which is turnable, against a return spring (26), Fig. 3 (not shown), between stops 38. An ejector 48 enters the crimping space 6. The tail is carried by a device which includes a seat 29, Fig. 1, for placing at the edge of a manhole and an adjustable foot rest 36. A cable (not shown) is clamped in a bag 41 by a cord 42 which is passed through a slot 43 to a clamping plate 44. Connectors are carried on a tray 38. |
