Each part of the section located above or below a column, which is provided with a winding, has a recess, extending in the longitudinal direction of the column and each of the recesses, viewed in a plane running perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the column has a cross-section of such dimensions that the surface-sections of the cross-sections of the column, covered by the individual sheet-metal bundles, are about equal in size. This three-phase transformer or choke-coil avoids uneven distribution of induction and resulting troubles, such as much increased noise, undesirable vibration, caused by differential induction, incomplete magnetic utilisation and increased loss in the saturated parts, leading also to greater occurance of hot-spots.
