The electromagnetic counter has several drums bearing the figures 0 to 9 and has a series of pawl devices which are used to drive the digit drums via intermediate transmission gears. For lining up of numbers to be displayed, there is a blocking bar with rounded off edges for easy entrance between two pawls of the toothed wheel. The blocking bar can be made in other shapes (i.e. a round drum, mounted on a swinging spring loaded spindle or it may have semicircular teeth). The blocking bar if not spring loaded can be arranged so that it can fall freely between the teeth of transmission sprocket wheel.
