Packaging machine for foodstuffs and/or pharmaceuticals has a thermoplastics strip guided by spring chips on endless chain conveyors through a container forming station, a filling station and a cutting and welding station at which a sheet is welded over the container which is then cut from the strip. The conveyors are driven by a step-by-step advance motor. The strip pref. passes below a heating plate prior to the formation station.
