The styli are divided up into a number of equal groups with each stylus of each group connected with the corresponding stylus in the other group so as to form a number of styli connections equal to the number of groups. Electrodes are provided equal in number to the groups and arranged next to one another such that they extend transversely over the one surface of the dielectric medium. The styli are positioned transversely over the other surface of the dielectric medium. Each electrode is located directly opposite one of the groups and has the same width as that group. Switches couple each of the electrodes to a common electrical energy source and each of the styli connections to a common electrical input terminal whenever an electrode is connected to the energy source.
