With sudden braking or frontal impact, the sun visor automatically folds down by ninety degrees. The retardation force moves the visor and it can be set for different values. The construction is such that the drivers head is cushioned as its hits the visor, upholstered and sprung material being used. The surface of the visor extends to accommodate the head shape. A similar system can be used for rear seat passengers.
