Coupling lock for a motor vehicle safety belt has a mechanical coupling unit for the belt coupling element to the housing, and a blocking unit, which can be shifted by an actuator between a position arresting the coupling element on the housing and a release position. A pressure medium cylinder is fitted in the housing and its piston is actuated by tensioning the safety belt, to stress a pneumatic and/or mechanical spring. A delay unit is provided, to feed stored spring energy with a time delay to the actuator. The cylinder permits automatic opening of the lock after an impact.
